Basics Tips For Hotel Linen Care

As a hotel, providing guests with clean and fresh linen is essential for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Here are some tips for proper hotel linen care:

Wash linens in warm water: Linens should be washed in warm water (around 140°F) to kill bacteria and remove dirt and stains. This temperature also ensures that the linens are cleaned thoroughly without being damaged.

Use appropriate detergents: Choose a detergent that is appropriate for the type of linens you are washing. For example, choose a detergent that is gentle on delicate linens such as satin or silk.

Sort linens by color: It is important to sort linens by color to prevent bleeding and fading. Wash whites separately from colored linens to prevent any discoloration.

Avoid overloading the washer: Overloading the washing machine can lead to linens not being cleaned properly. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for maximum load size.

Dry linens thoroughly: After washing, it is important to dry linens thoroughly to prevent bacteria growth. Avoid over-drying, which can damage the linens and cause shrinkage.

Store linens properly: Store linens in a dry and cool place to prevent bacteria growth and moisture damage. Fold linens neatly and keep them covered to protect from dust and insects.

Replace linens regularly: Replace linens regularly to ensure that guests always have fresh and clean linens. A good rule of thumb is to replace linens every 1.5-2 years. Some hotels also take stock typically every 3 months to check what linen needs to be replaced, this ensures that linen can be bought in smaller quantities at intervals avoiding one time lump sum cash out-flow for the hotel.

By following these tips, hotels can ensure that their linens are clean, fresh, and comfortable for guests. Providing clean and comfortable linens is an important aspect of a positive guest experience and helps to create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere.
